Oh Jimmy!

Oh, Jimmy!

Former President Jimmy Carter met with top leader of the Hamas. He met with Khaled Meshaal, leader of the terrorist organization to discuss Hamas’ involvement with the peace that Carter is trying to facilitate in the Middle East . Carter was advised against the visit by both Isreali government and the Bush Administration. Carter did stress that he was not there to serve as a mediator but more of a “communicator” in the process.

Let us rewind to re-visit Carter’s communication skills shall we? Does anyone remember the Iranian hostage crisis where Carter’s communication skills stranded American hostages for 444 days? Who was that great communicator who effectively negotiated the hostages release in 48 hrs? Oh yes, President Reagan.

Even after all these years, Carter still hasn’t learned his lesson: you don’t negotiate with terrorists. It didn’t work in the 80’s when he was put to shame by Reagan and I'm fairly certain the Middle East is far from peaceful after President Carter's visit. I wish he would just stick to peanut farming already rather than trying to negotiate peace with terrorists.
