The best 143 days of my life...

In an attempt to further demonize the Republican party for its logic and practicality, Democrats are livid over the Republicans rejecting their bill to initiate a higher gas tax.

The gas tax that dems are so in love with would cut into the profits of the 5 major oil producers in the US: Shell, Chevron, Exxon, BP America, and ConocoPhilips Oil Co. Sen. Charles Schumer (D- N.Y.) griped that: "We are hurting as a country. We're hurting individually as Americans ... and the other side says, 'Do nothing. Don't even debate the issue..."

The truth of the matter is Republicans saw the flaws in the legislation (much like they did with the Minimum Wage raise) and pointed it out to the Demos. Republicans stood up and pointed out the obvious--- the only thing this tax hike would do was push our American oil companies towards producing less oil due to the high tax hike and further entrench our dependency on foreign oil supplies (OPEC).

Additionally, the tax would do absolutely nothing to lower the current price of gasoline.

Long time cheerleader of the gas tax hike Senator Obama was not on the Senate floor for the vote or lack of debate. This seems odd to me. Considering how much Senator Obama preaches the need for the tax hike and alternative types of fuel, he didn't see the issue as important as oh say, his political campaign for Presidency? The man was in Congress for 143 days prior to starting his bid for the Oval Office and he expects us to believe he's anywhere near qualified to help the American people when he doesn't even show up for the job he was elected to do in the first place?!

I know what some of you might be thinking: Katy! McCain wasn't there for it either!

Here's the difference--- the bill wasn't going to make it through regardless of McCains support and he's established his credibility on the Senate floor far more than Obama has (even if I don't always agree with what he's done while he was there).

That's why Obama's first 143 days were the best days in my life **note: sarcasm** because I could live with a freshman Senator doing nothing, unknown by the majority of his colleagues, failing to pass any significant legislation rather than believe that this man is the front runner for the Demos in November...

If you ask me Barrack Obama's bid for Presidency is an insult to our country, our fellow Americans, and our Founding Fathers...to believe that someone so inexperienced, unqualified and naive about the position of power he will yield will be Commander in Chief of our Armed Forces as well as Chief Diplomat scares me to the very core of my being.

We deserve better.

I'm glad you pointed out that he only spent 143 days as an "active" Senator. In my arguments with people, I've been crediting him with a full year! No more!

If Obama is short on foreign policy experience, you wouldn't know it by watching how the Bush administration has been pursuing Obama's stated foreign policy strategies.

The Bush administration has pushed ahead with high-level diplomatic negotiations with Iran and North Korea, agreed to a "time horizon" for a reduction of U.S. forces in Iraq and announced plans last week to shift troops and other resources from Iraq to Afghanistan. U.S. officials also confirmed last week that Bush has formally authorized cross-border raids into Pakistan without that government's approval -- an idea that Obama first endorsed, and was heavily criticized for, last year.

Not bad for a guy with "143" days of experience. Even the President listens to him instead of McCain. I'll take Good Judgement over Experience any day.
