McCain To Hispanics: Y Que?

Presidential hopeful John McCain address La Raza Unida, in attempts to swing the Hispanic vote his way.

When the moderators of the event attempted to end questioning John McCain refused handing his microphone to members of the audience to allow their questions to be presented and answered.

Obama then attempted to hit McCain's record (again) by saying he admired McCain & Kennedy's legislation regarding immigration, but stated that McCain wasn't likely to make that same move again because it wouldn't be politically sound for his Presidential run.

Evidently, Obama believes everyone in the race for Presidency has his John Kerry-esque mentality of voting both for something and against it. McCain fired back with: "I took my lumps for it without complaint. My campaign was written off as a lost cause. I did so not just because I believed it was the right thing to do for Hispanic Americans. It was the right thing to do for all Americans. Sen. Obama declined to cast some of those tough votes..."

Although Barry responded by McCain's attacks (regarding his last trip to Iraq in 2006) by making a trip to the Middle East prior to the November election, McCain suggested to Barry that he take a trip to South America before arguing any points on illegal immigration. I'm glad to see Barry is fighting this campaign the way McCain says it would be fought. Shows he can take orders.

La Raza Unida is a radical Hispanic organization working its way into the political fibers of this election. At one point their goal for their Texas chapters was to 'take the land back from the gringos and return it to the rightful owners, the Mexicanos'. Nice. One of the audience members asked McCain if he would put an end to the "inhumane" raids in which illegal immigrants have been arrested and sent home, sometimes separating them from their families."

McCain, former POW in Vietnam of several years stated that he does not support any sort of inhuman treatment. Although I don't agree with the unnecessary separation of families, this is completely different. Does this woman lobby local law enforcement agents who arrest criminals with families and send them to prison once convicted? Not likely. At which point where these individuals chose to come to this country illegally they are putting their lives in jeopardy and are knowingly at risk of deportation. If you break the law, you suffer the consequences...is this new to anyone? Did this just happen? It is not a situation uniquely granted and saved for illegal immigrants it goes the same for any other American who breaks the law and gets sent to prison / jail...but for some reason people with that mentality believe that they are somehow exempt from the laws that govern our country, which just goes to show why we need to better enforce and protect our borders...

And as for "Senator" Obama, it is rather easy to sit back and critique what McCain has done...he must have a lot of time on his hands considering his 143 days in the Senate and the fact that he hasn't produced one single piece of legislation that would help ANY American.

Keep up the good work "Senator".

Sad to see conservatives bending over forwards to shill for a RINO sellout.

RIP, conservatism.

Also sad to see young conservatives blogging instead of joining real men right up front where it counts -- on the front lines of Iraq and Afghanistan.

That's not very fair, anonymous. I hope you are not suggesting that our opinion is not worth as much because we have chosen to go a different route than our colleage and fellow blogger Aaron Schwitters, who writes for RUF from Korea as an Army specialist and will soon be in Iraq.

And I am also certain you join with us in expressing to him our deepest gratitude for the sacrifice he has chosen to make so that we, including yourself, did not have to.

::sighs:: Where to start???

I'm not even sure that every writer of RUF wanted McCain to be the nominee. I voted for another during the primary BECAUSE of his views on Immigration...being a Mexican-American immigrant who came here LEGALLY this was a big issue for me.

First of all I do not believe it's "sad" to see any conservative speaking their mind about the truth, questioning the status-quo, or giving their opinion on the current state of affairs. We all have a first Amendment right, I chose to exercise it. Second of all, to sexist Anonymous #2 both men AND WOMEN fight for our country in the Armed Forces...and we thank them on a regular basis more so on this blog than on any lefty blog you'll see out there. While are brave soldiers fight overseas and at home to protect our freedoms the writers here at RUF exercise the rights they fight to protect rather than sitting idly by doing nothing, thinking nothing, saying nothing and critisizing those who do.

And btw Russ, I concur.
