Obama: Holier than thou

Camp Obama is making a significant attempt to gain popularity among his "fellow Christians" this week by supporting the Democratic platform to "embrace motherhood". The new (and not so much improved) democrat platform is calling for additional funding to pre and post-natal health care, in attempts to gather the Evangelical vote in November.

Bush took over 70% of the Evangelical vote in 2004, and Camp Obama is hoping to cash-in on some of those much needed votes in order to put a greater wedge between him and McCain come November. According to recent Gallup polls McCain has a 64% approval rating over Obama, among weekly Church Go-ers.

It's not big secret that Obamessiah is Pro-Choice; yet his new foray into "embracing motherhood" does raise an eyebrow; his problem is, most Christians aren't buying it. Pat Buchanan did an excellent piece this week entitled "A Catholic Case Against Barack" citing the numerous reasons why Obama's moral stance would not be enough to coax Catholics away from the Republican party. In it he sites how family lovin' Barry has an A+ rating from both Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Rights Action League.

Additionally, Buchanan offers incite into just how liberal Obama is on the issue:
He supports the late-term procedure known as partial-birth abortion, where the baby's skull is stabbed with scissors in the birth canal and the brains are sucked out to end its life swiftly and ease passage of the corpse into the pan. Yet, when Congress was voting to ban this terrible form of death for a mature fetus, Michelle Obama was signing fundraising letters pledging that, if elected, Barack would be "tireless" in keeping legal this "legitimate medical procedure."

Buchanan continues:
"When a bill almost identical to the one Barack fought in Illinois, the Born Alive Infants Protection Act, came to the floor of the U.S. Senate in 2001, the vote was 98 to 0 in favor. Barbara Boxer, the most pro-abortion member of the Senate before Barack came, spoke out on its behalf: "Of course, we believe everyone should deserve the protection of this bill. ... Who could be more vulnerable than a newborn baby? So, of course, we agree with that. ... We join with an 'aye' vote on this. I hope it will, in fact, be unanimous." Obama says he opposed the Born Alive Infants Protection Act because he feared it might imperil Roe v. Wade. "

Gallup also reports that 55% of married couples do not support Obama. It is becoming increasingly evident that Obama is going to have to work to portray himself as both a strong family man and a Christian in order to take these votes from McCain. Although McCain has his own personal issues to face regarding family matters, his actions regarding his personal life transpired over 20 years ago whereas Obama's actions in the Illinois Senate and his additional 143 days on Capitol Hill are more recent in the minds of voters.

With less than 90 days until Election Day Camp Obama has got A LOT of work to do.
