Republican Party Missing An Opportunity

With the Democratic race still hotly contested John McCain is still of course running for president. McCain has been visiting areas of the country that he claims have been forgotten, areas where voters are ignored and that the press don't cover. Why should this be any different?

I commend McCain for making these trips but couldn't these trips have been made when he was just a senator? Not to say that these trips are not important but they do little to sure up the GOP Base or attract any independent voters that will be critical to any November election victory.

McCain will have to work twice as hard this election just because by all accounts this just won't be a GOP year, but it could. McCain should be utilizing more the disarray amongst the Democrats right now and he's not doing that; the man is a maverick but how about a political fighter too.

Another Victim of The Smiley Face Gang?

One of our readers left a comment on our previous posting about the Smile Face murders. Apparently one of his classmates has turned up as one of the latest (possible) victims. You can find more info here.

Of course, this instance could be a terrible hoax perpetrated by heartless college kids. But I'll take the reader at his word that this is legit.

Diary of a Mad Brown Woman

Congressman Tancredo (R-Colorado) joined Congressman Ortiz in Brownsville on Tuesday for a joint committee meeting regarding the proposed fence building to attempt to curb illegal immigration (amongst other things) in the area.

Not surprisingly, Tancredo was met with a rather cold reception with his known favoritism towards building the fence. “It really isn’t a border to most of us who live down here” said Betty Perez local activist. No need to guess which side she’s advocating.

Now, on the not so stereo-typical side, you’ve got me to give you some insight into uber minority: the endangered Republican Female Mexican American immigrant --- who came to this country legally. Thank you very much. Hold all applause please.

I was born in Juarez Mexico in the state of Chihuahua. I was adopted by my Mexican American parents and brought to this country. They put me on a path to citizenship from the moment I got here; it took fifteen years before I would become an American citizen. I value my citizenship and the rights that go along with that and hold them in the highest regard. It pains me to see people like Ms. Perez who I lived virtually next to for years display their ignorance.

I grew up in McAllen located in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV). I lived with the border situation all my life. I’ve had family in law enforcement that have had to deal with hundreds of cases of drug smuggling and encounters with the Mexican Mafia and other crime organizations that stem out of Mexico. Additionally, I’ve had family in the Border Patrol who dealt with the immigrant situation for years.

I do not have an issue with “keeping the Mesicans out”, but there is a legal way to come into this country and if you can’t honor or respect the basic laws to enter into this country what grounds do we have to believe that you’ll respect the rule of law that governs us while you’re here? I know all about the standard of living in Mexico---my birth mother was a bar-maid with 8-10 kids all from different fathers. My birth-father was a dope fiend. So I get the desire to attain a better quality of life.

I moved to San Antonio about 5 years ago. I haven’t been back to McAllen in about 4 years because I couldn’t stand to see how bad things got down there. Now, as much as I love the taquerias on every corner, what I don’t like is being required to speak Spanish at every major store I went to in order to get what I needed from that establishment. I grew up speaking Spanish. In fact, I am tri-lingual, but that’s entirely beside the point. I stopped refer to McAllen as McAllen, and called it what it was: Northern Mexico.

No a fence isn’t the end all be all of illegal immigration, but it will help to curb the smuggling of immigrants into the nation as well as illegal narcotics. The fence will not “alienate people and businesses who live and work between the wall and the border” as Rev. Raymundo Pena suggests. The same people and business will continue to exist and the cultural diversity will continue to be ever-present and to argue against that fact is ludicrous. The people who live there typically are rather conservative given the religious beliefs. However, they have been indoctrinated by party that wants to keep them where they are and shelter them from progressing in order to keep their votes. That’s the ol’ “Democrats are for the poor” mentality.

The fence isn’t being constructed to keep all Mexicans out forever. It’s being constructed to help stop the amount of illegal narcotics coming into our country that will eventually find its way into the hands of our children and later go on to fund terrorism. Narco-terrorism is now one of the most effective tactics being used today. The fence is there to see that the people who do come to our country do it safely and legally.

Congratulations to Tancredo for managing to go into the lions den and coming out alive. .

Obama Suddenly "Outraged" At Rev. Wright's Rhetoric

I was going to title this entry "Wadda Dumbass" but thought better of it.

Weeks (and weeks and weeks) after the story broke, and with barely time for a breath since saying he could no more seperate himself from Rev. Wright then he could from the entire black community, Senator Obama has decided he is outraged (OUTRAGED!) by Rev. Wright's most recent comments to the National Press Club and is sekeing to seperate himself form Rev. Wright. But the problem is that Wright's comments were the same thing we had heard from his sermons, which Barack was not so upset about before today.

The only difference today was that Rev. Wright insulted Barack Obama personally, calling him a politician saying anything to get elected, which is demonstrably true. Wright used as proof Obama's denial of ever hearing the sermons we've all heard by now, despite his 20 years of church membership. Obama is being exposed as the filandering politician that he is, not the agent of change and genuine hope that he has worked so hard to present to the American people.

This is not as easy as saying that Wright does not speak for Obama. According to video from several sermons and the National Press Club, black people love listening to Wright. We know this because they can hardly stay seated or quiet while he damns America and blames the government for every perceived ill in any minority community. Wright obviously speaks for all of these cheering, screaming and clapping churchgoers. Is it so outlandish to believe that someone like Barack Obama, a 20 year member, would also harbor some of these same beliefs? Of course, not. But what is outlandish is the notion that Obama wouldn't modify some of those beliefs while in public so as to make his political aspirations more attainable.

When will Barack Obama's supporters admit they made an incorrect judgement when they decided to support Obama? Today's lesson: Pride cometh before the fall.

Bush Grows Frustrated With Media's War Coverage

I love it. I saw it on television today and immediately set out to find it on the internet so I could share it with you all. I love President Bush's unwillingness to back down, and I'm glad to see he's still go the fire in the belly when it comes to confronting these people...and by "these people" I mean "reporters". The whole thing is good but it gets extra good in the last half.

NOTE: I would have never noticed this if it weren't for Ed Morrisey on Hot Air, but President Bush violated the State Department's own rule about not calling the terrorists "jihadists". Oommmmmm.

BurntOrangeReport = Liar(s)

Phillip Martin of BurntOrangeReport.com states that the voter fraud that exists in Texas cannot be solved by the proposed legislation.
Texas Republicans Claim Voter ID Needed

To even try and argue this point is laughable at best. Cleary the staff of BurntOrangeReport has never been to a polling location on Election Day or during Early Voting.

I have had the honor of volunteering on several political campaigns through out my college years and helping run a State Representative race for Texas HD 125 in 2006. The oldest voter for our district during that time was old enough to have fought in the Civil War--- he was a life-long democrat. On Election Day we had a bus pull in to our polling location on the Southside of San Antonio with a bus full of elderly people from the Rio Grande Valley (located about 4 ½ hours south of San Antonio). They were there to vote for Ciro Rodriguez.

Now, anyone who has ever worked a poll on Election Day or voted on Election Day for that matter can tell you that you are only allowed to vote in your designated precinct. The volunteer wearing a Ciro Rodriguez shirt pleaded with the Poll Worker to let them vote there, lest they drive all the way back home and miss their opportunity to vote all together. The woman in charge of the precinct (a member of the Bexar Co. Democrats) decided the right thing to do would be to allow them to vote. Surprise, surprise. The real question was what were these people driving all the way from Harlingen to vote in San Antonio for? Answer: The RGV was considered to be a strong hold for Ciro, San Antonio was more of a battleground area and the votes in this specific precinct and county overall were critical to his campaign.

The real reason why liberals, not only in Texas but across the country, are so eager to keep legislation requiring voter identification is because they will be losing out on several thousand perhaps even millions of votes across Texas and the country. Heaven forbid we have a fair election---democrats would rarely win. If the democrats can’t manage to pick up seats or reclaim the White House with the set of advantages they have, they should just pack up and go home. Seriously. But to sit there and claim that the Republicans have no reason to push this legislation is ridiculous.

Sorry Mr. Martin you are horribly misinformed. My advise, open your eyes, go to a polling location and witness, firsthand, the gross misuse of authority and bastardization of the voting process conducted by your party.

The Voter ID push will make it more difficult for individuals to get away with this type of behavior and actions. If we can deter this from happening even a fraction of the time, why wouldn't we? To say that these measures won't thwart voting fraud in its entirety is sad excuse for an argument. Granted there will always be individuals who will try to circumvent the system, that's not why we fight. The argument being presented by Martin is the equivalency of saying our current laws will not keep drugs of the streets or prevent terrorist attacks so we should just nix the whole thing.

For more information on voter fraud in Texas feel free to visit Attorney General for the State of Texas Gregg Abbott's website.

Wright is Wrong (again)...

He’s baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack.

In a press conference held on Monday, Rev. Jeremiah Wright stated that the criticisms made against him and his sermons were truly an attack on the “black church”. Additionally, he fights back against criticism that he is unpatriotic or un- American, statements made against him after his shocking statements regarding Sept. 11.

He states that he served his country and thus cannot possibly be anti-American or considered un-patriotic. He then goes on to ask “how many years Dick Cheney served” --- First of all, although serving our country should always be recognized and respected, there is a great difference between those who serve to protect our freedoms and those who serve and belittle our nation. John Kerry served and fought in Vietnam, then he later came back with the medals he had received and threw them at the White House. Does that make him less patriotic---absolutely! Secondly, my question to Wright is: How many years has Barrack Obama served? Or Hillary? Before you question the leaders of our nation sir, look to the people who you are backing.

He later goes on to play the race card stating that the majority of America will never know the struggles of the black church…here is the assumptive fallacy that really ticks me off. He lumps everyone who is not black into one category- not black. He ignores everything else. He forgets that we live in America, one of the most ethnically diverse nations in the world. As a Hispanic female, I recognize (as does the majority of the nation) that Hispanics are now the majority minority in this country. Hispanics, Mexican-Americans especially, were just as much a part of the civil rights movement (Cesar Chavez) as the members of the black community during the 60's. We all fought on the same side to achieve the same thing. Yet, because we are again, not black, we do not matter, nor does the rest of “not black” America.

This is the exact type of separatist mentality that makes Wright wrong and unfit to inspire anyone who truly seeks spiritual enlightenment.

We are all Gods children, regardless of race or ethnicity or have you forgotten that Rev. Wright?

Smiley Face Gang Responsible For 40 Student Deaths

That's right, folks. After piecing together suspicious student drownings that go back nearly a decade, police are finally thinking that maybe these are all related for a few different reasons, not the least of which is the smiley faces found in, on or around each victim. So far, over 40 young men have been murdered, virtually all of them very successful students. A group of retired detectives has spent eleven years linking these together. Seriously. Eleven years.

Now, as a male college student, I'm pissed about this. 40 young men are found suspiciously drowned with freaky smiley faces strewn about over the course of eleven years and no one found this suspicious.

POP QUIZ:

1) Were these 40 victims female students, instead of male, would the public be more outraged over these events instead of simply interested in them?

2) Were these 40 victims female students, instead of male, would police have ever even allowed the number to come close to 40?

3) Were these 40 victims female students, instead of male, how much sooner would the media have picked up on this? 5 bodies? 10? 30?

This is an outrage. For eleven years detectives sat back and watched 40 young men die while they "linked the incidents together". But they were young men.

Screw 'em.

Just Say No...

While campaigning over the weekend, Senator Obama attempted to rationalize his refusal to debate Senator Clinton. He stated that with such little time in both North Carolina and Indiana he would rather spend that time meeting voters rather than suiting up for a debate.

In actuality, Senator Obama (and his campaign strategists) have probably become aware of the fact that his polling numbers tend to go down after each one-on-one debate with Senator Clinton. Why would he willingly risk losing a few more approval rating points with his lackluster Lincoln-Douglas debating skills? The truth of the matter is Senator Obama is a decent orator. He can speak well and "move" people when he does...but this usually requires hours of preparation, canned responses, and a script that he must diligently stick to. When he is required to think for himself and come up with his own answers, he stumbles and usually says something along the lines of "I don't want my daughter(s) punished with a baby or an STD..." or something equally as moving or intelligent--- Damn near anyone can be as moving or insightful as Obama as long as you have the right people writing for you. Sadly, Obama, former editor of the Harvard Law Review hasn't quite mastered the art of improv, thinking on his feet, or formulating a coherent thought, which naturally are all qualities we look forward to having in a President.

Even in 2004, it was clear that Bush had a good advantage and preformed well against Kerry...and let's not forget the bloodbath that was the Cheney / Edwards debate. Liberals are constantly making fun of our Commander in Chief for his speaking style, but they should look to what they've managed to produce in this election. ATTN Liberals: Don't judge us.

Obama's problem is that he has yet to master Clinton's debating art of 1) Blaming absolutely everything on the Bush Administration or 2) when in doubt TAKE A SHOT and chase it with a beer...if only I had mastered Clinton's techniques when I was an LD debater in high school, I probably would have made it to Nationals twice, rather than just once, in my two year debating career.

Shucks.

Fear and Loathing in Washington DC

Obama is a fear monger.

He talks of "Change" as if its something he is made of. Does anyone actually know what "Change" he plans on bringing to Washington?

While he is a great orator, he is an empty politician. If people perceive him as being the catalyst of change, they are sadly mistaken. How can a politically savvy individual actually believe that Barack Obama is different than any other politician? He's thrown more money around this primary cycle than any other candidate for president in the history of our nation. One thing is certain. The Presidency is not for sale.

He is bought and paid for by Oprah Winfrey and Howard Dean, and has the support of people like Nancy Pelosi and Ted Kennedy. Believe me, if he isn't old politics now he will quickly become it with supporters like those circling around him.

We have real problems , and we need someone with real solutions to fix them. John McCain may not be as polished, or as politically charming as Obama, but he knows how to get things done.

We have a choice. We can chose to do nothing and allow our country to spiral out of control, or...we can chose to act, and by doing so protect this nation and the freedom we adore.

McCain is the only choice for hope. He's a straight talker, and you can take him at his word.

Message To McCain: Shut Up!

With the Democrat primary still raging on I've had time to forget about how much I hate John McCain. But, never one to miss an opportunity to piss off his own party, old Johnny has pulled through for me and reminded us all why we wanted to shoot ourselves through the knee when he clinched the nomination.

No, I'm not talking about his masquerading around with Mike Huckabee, which led to the nauseating speculation about a Mac/Huck ticket. No sir, I'm talking about Johnny Maverick's finger wagging at the North Carolina GOP for it's ad featuring the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Nevermind that it wasn't even an ad in support of John McCain, the old Arizona windbag still couldn't resist doing what he's best at - looking down his nose with self-righteous indignation at his own party members, calling them "out of touch with reality" for not listening to him, the all knowing nominee. Many times in primary politics Reagan's eleventh commandment is thrown out the window (at least very temporarily) and it is tolerated. But John McCain has made his career out of talking down to conservatives and treating us like children. His superiority complex is as revolting as Barack Obama's, possibly making this election the ultimate battle of egos.

I said when Johnny got the nomination he was going to have to earn my vote, and for the past couple of months the Democrats have been earning it for him. If he keeps up with this bullshit he may well unearn it.

Fred Thompson On Vice Presidency and Barack Obama

In his interview with Sean Hannity, former presidential hopeful Fred Thompson made it clear he did not want the vice presidential spot, saying he wouldn't enjoy being sent to "state funerals in far away places". He also had some tough words for Barack Obama, although still not tough enough for my taste. He attacked Barack's inexperience and the fact that we know so little about him.

I happen to think that all this unknown is precisely why he is as popular as he is. And I'm growing frustrated by it. Barack's supporters are largely independent and young voters, whom in the past I have called "spineless, unprincipled idiots", and it's looking more and more true. In the past, young people and "independents" have suggested they are unmotivated to vote due to a lack of acceptable candidates. Well I say bull-butter. That is nothing more than an excuse to be lazy and not learn a thing about policy or substantive issues. Barack Obama has mastered the ability to capture these voters by talking about simple, easy things like hope, change and believing. Spineless idiots understand rhetorical platitudes such as this, and they have rewarded him by flocking to his candidacy. In short, by not knowing anything about him they have been able to conjure up whatever laughable image they wanted to in their largely empty heads. In Obama's case, they've conjured up Christ on Earth. For other candidates it could be a different image. You may recall that the image that came to most of our heads during the candidacy of John Kerry was Lurch, from The Adams Family. Anyway, I digress.

We know they are stupid because after years of complaining about unacceptable candidates they have chosen the one candidate who has the thinnest resume of any presidential candidate in recent (and perhaps not-so-recent) history. A meager one bill has passed the Senate with his name on it, as either sponsor, co-sponsor or author. Raise your hand if you've heard of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Relief, Security and Promotion of Democracy Act. Don't feel bad, I hadn't either. Before being a half-term junior Senator, he was a state senator from that beacon of political incorruptibility, Chicago. (For those independents reading this, that was sarcasm).

Anyway, here is the video of Fred Thompson on the Vice Presidency and Obambi.

The Cult of Obama, Another Volume

We hadn't run a story on the Cult in quite a while, but Aaron did so today shortly before sending me this video. I'm not sure why he didn't include it in his own post, so I'm putting it here. :)

The Democrats Own Words

I am a proponent on the Democrats continuing their joke of a primary as long as humanly possible. In fact it seems that the Democrats are blithely unaware that their own words might just be used against them in the fall. This is an ad that Hillary Clinton's campaign ran in Pennsylvania that might very well come back to haunt the Obama in November. Thanks Hill!

Where are they now?

I was listening to Laura Ingrahm today, as I do most mornings, and was shocked by a clip that she played on her show...

Individuals from a UCLA pro-life group contacted Planned Parenthood looking to make a donation. Naturally, they were received very well.

The first clip has the male caller questioning the the Planned Parenthood staffer if he can designate the funds to a certain location or for a specific group of people...the Planned Parenthood staffer happily states that she can definately make sure it goes to the area that the alleged donor wishes. He then goes on to ask if the money he donates can solely go to black women looking to get abortions for their black babies...the PP staffer goes on to assure him that they can make sure that his request is fulfilled.

The second clip comes from the same gentlemen and now is calling a different donation center...he states that he wishes to make a donation to support abortions for blacks in the area because of Affirmative Action. He doesn't want his sons chances of getting into college to be lessened and this revelation has spurred his donation. The PP staffer concurs and states that we "are living in a strange time".

It was evident that the caller was trying to drive home the point that this money was going to lessen the black community population for different reasons in both calls. Both PP workers agreed with the caller and gladly accepted the donation...Though this call was a staged call (on behalf of the caller) the answers and reactions from the Planned Parenthood workers were (sadly) real.

Laura initially played this clip last month and it has yet to be picked up by any major news network. He has made its way around conservative talk radio, but not onto MSNBC, ABC or any other major feed. Why is that?

In a time where the Jeramiah Wright scandal takes headline news, a white male calling Planned Parenthood to make a donation that will be solely given on the basis that it will be used by black women to get rid of black babies, is ignored. Where is Jeremiah Wright now? Where is Jesse Jackson? Where is Al Sharpton? Where is Obama? They refuse to address the issue lest they deal with the fact that Planned Parenthood is a for profit organization, willing to accept money at any moral cost. And of course, why would you bite the hand that feeds you?

Obama's Disciples, Their Faith and Dogma

No doubt, Barry Obama's supporters are earnest and passionate about their guy. There are those that worry, though, that this passion is rooted primarily in a visceral, emotional attachment to the abstract, amorphous idea of Barry Obama. The idea of who this man is and why he was (obviously) sent to us from the right hand of God the Father is different for everyone, unique to each individual supporter, and really only constitutes his or her personal passions, which they project onto their blank-slate/empty-suit savior.

Stating that fact breaks no new ground, though, so I won't belabor the point. But this idea becomes a bit funny when set alongside an old favorite poem, Evolutionary Hymn by C.S. Lewis. Replace the word "Evolution" with "Barry Obama" and you get an eerily accurate, satirical description of Obama's community of supporters (or, the Early Church, you could say):

Lead us, Evolution, lead us
Up the future’s endless stair,
Chop us, change us, clip us, weed us,
For stagnation is despair:
Groping, guessing, yet progressing,
Lead us nobody-knows-where.

To what variation
Our posterity may turn,
Hairy, squashy, or crustacean,
Bulbous-eyed or square of stern,
Bland or ruthless, tusked or toothless,
Towards that unknown god we yearn.

Ask not ‘Is he god or devil?’
Brethren, lest your words imply
Static norms of good or evil
Throned immutable on high;
Such a dated, antiquated
Mode of thought we must defy.

Since the goal of our endeavour
Has no content, form, or name,
No position, we can never
(Happy warriors!) miss our aim;
Since improvement means just movement,
All directions are the same.

Far too long have sages vainly
Glossed great Nature’s simple text;
He who runs can read it plainly,
Goodness = what comes next.
By evolving, Life is solving
All the questions we perplexed.

On then! Value means survival–
Value. If our progeny
Spreads and spawns and licks each rival,
That will prove its deity
(Far from pleasant, by our present
Standards, though it well may be).

Ridiculous

Through out the campaign we've been bombarded with a plethora of TV ads discussing the need for change in the country.

We've seen tons of ads from Hillary and Obama talking about how desperately change is needed and how they are the only one who can accomplish what needs to happen. Both of these Senators should know that they have been in a position to make change happen in their short-lived stay in Congress...what have they accomplished? Nothing. And yet somehow, they want us, the American people, to believe that they can accomplish so much more in the Oval Office. Yeah right. They have more power to positively affect change in our country through their currnet office. The office of the President wasn't created to make laws, only sign them into action. This is not a new concept. Why don't they just make an ad simply stating the truth for once. Every issue that they are harping about: health care reform, education, immigration, taxes, the war against Terrorism, poverty etc. are all things that can be regulated and changed IN CONGRESS not in the White House.
This is just another example as to how the democratic party wants to fool the country into buying more of their BS. They want to show us how "horrible" the Bush Administration was, and the only way to "fix" the country is to put in a liberal who will install more costly big government programs, cut off our funding for the troops, pull out of Iraq and allow terrorist groups to run rampant, and allow amnesty for all immigrants who choose to illegally cross our borders. Well we don't buy it. Had they truely wanted to make a change, they would have...but they actually want a title.

Not So Strong Defense

Michael Huerta of the infamous Burnt Orange Report cheered on incumbent Ciro Rodriguez in the race for the Congressional HD 23. Huerta cited an article from the Dallas Morning News showing Rodriguez to be significantly ahead of Republican challenger Lyle Larson.

Here is some food for thought for my friendly neighborhood liberals: err on the side of caution. While gloating is a fun past time pre-election, it can be less fun once you’ve lost the election (this is something every follower of the political world must come to grips with at one point or another).

Now, before you peg me as an irrational optimist, hear me out…

The Congressman’s monetary lead over his challenger should not be a surprise to anyone; if anything it should be expected. Perhaps our friends over at Burnt Orange Report should re-visit their textbooks and look up the theory of Incumbency Advantage. This is a lesson I’m sure the Congressman is quite familiar with considering his opponent last go around was Republican incumbent Henry Bonilla. Bonilla had, what was considered a “war chest” by many observers at the time Rodriguez decided to enter the race. This was a huge obstacle for Rodriguez to overcome, he was doubted by many, but looking at the status-quo, it wasn’t impossible.

Now, Lyle Larson is faced with the same scenario and naturally, the cheerleading liberals are naïve enough to believe that it can’t happen again. Wake up. How do you think you got there? It meant more for the Texas Democratic Party and the DNC to get Henry Bonilla out of office, considering he was the only Hispanic Congressman, than it meant for the Republicans to keep him in. (More on Hispanic Republicans later...sidenote to liberals: WE DO EXIST) The Republicans' problem was that they felt Bonilla’s “war chest” was enough to ward off prospective challengers. They were wrong, as I believe the democrats are now.

Taking a closer look at the latest Federal Elections Commission (FEC) report further confirms my previous statements. Out of the $921,431 worth of donations raised by Camp Ciro, 95 of them were from (what I like to call) Repeat Offenders, or PACs or other organizations who had donated more than once. The award for Most Ambitious Repeat Offender goes to the National Air Traffic Controllers Association PAC who donated a impressive eight times, never donating less than $1,000 a pop each time. Overall winner by technicality goes to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee with an astounding thirteen In Kind contributions. In the Individual Contributions area Camp Ciro had 10% of his contributions coming from Repeat Offenders. Congratulations Ciro, only 4 of those 273 Individual Contributors came from self proclaimed Lobbyists…but don’t worry! There’s still time for more people to have you in their pocket, Congressman. We still have plenty of time until November, and thus many more chances for his vote to be bought.

Now, let’s look at Republican challenger Lyle Larson. Larson had no “Repeat Offenders” when it came to PACs or other similar committees. When looking at the individual contributions he had only a 4% repeat donor rate in comparison to Ciro’s 10%. Lyle Larson has been in politics for a while and has amassed strong loyalties, and yet he does not have any self proclaimed lobbyists in his campaign finance reports unlike his opponent Ciro Rodriguez.

It is easy to see the clear distinction between the two candidates in this race. I advise the Democratic Party to rely less on their money and more on the character of their candidate, and if that’s the case, Camp Ciro has a lot of work to do.

We Are Missing The Point On Ayers

There has been a lot of coverage recently given to the relationship between likely Democrat nominee Barack Obama and the bonafide terrorist William Ayers. And despite the coverage, I think even those of us on the conservative front are missing a huge point. Our very good friend, Justin Higgins at Right On The Right, recently wrote about Barack Obama's "shady associations" and his pleasure that our nominee was finally calling him on it.

But this is about more than "shady associations". Honestly, are any of us surprised that the Democrats' leading man is friends with a terrorist? I'm not. Can you say "Jimmy Carter"? Higgins hits the nail on the head in his closing:
Ayers was part of a terrorist group and on September 11th, 2001 of all days, an article was released where he said he wished he committed more terrorist attacks. His background is one of a domestic tyrant, that should be in jail, but instead he's brown-nosing with one of our Presidential nominees. Does that say something about Barack? Absolutely.
More importantly, Justin, what does it say about America that a true traitor to our country who bombed government buildings and declared a "revolution" against American "injustice" is now teaching at an American university? Here's a video reminding us of Ayers's atrocities and his connection to Obama.

Treason. Do we ever plan on using that anymore? Or is it something we're not supposed to say for fear of being accused of questioning someone's pariotism. From all of the tiptoeing and pussyfooting around we do with the issue of liberal patriotism, I must respectfully remove myself and again pose the question What Patriotism?

These people do not love America. They love an America that does not exist, never has existed, and never will exist. They love an America where God is replaced with the State and in which all natural human aspirations are squandered for an illusive "collective good".

Traitor. That word use to mean something in this country. Now, it's a punchline.

Young Democrats In Their Own Words (See Video)

The leadership of the Young Democrats at the University of Washington are no doubt your typical student Democrats; young, energetic, ambitious and insurmountably stupid. And now we have proof!

Apparently on a road trip, the video features Young Democrat President Max Wagner and ASUW Student Senator Alex Lark performing in conjuction with other student leaders their version of Americans who believe in God, are concerned about terrorism, and seek the spread of democracy. You and I know these people as "normal Americans". But as you can see in their video, they view Americans a little bit differently. One might even say bitter.

In its press release, MoveRed.org said it best.
In an attempt to disparage Republicans, the video in question has revealed a very unsettling trend of willingness to say or do anything to belittle those of a different political view. Young Democrats have recently criticized UW College Republican plans to hold an illegal immigration awareness event on campus as being racist and hateful, but have apparently offered this criticism with the utmost hypocrisy.
Back in my College Republican days, one of our favorite mottos was "There is nothing more intolerant than a tolerant liberal." I really wish we would have had this video at the time. Also noted by movered.org, is that these student liberals not only video taped their lunacy, but then proudly posted it online for us to find. Why, its as if they see nothing wrong with disparaging Americans who hold more traditional and rural beliefs than they do. In politics, boys and girls, we call this mindset "elitism".

In any case, I think perhaps the UW Young Democrats owe us normal folks an apology for such blatant hypocrisy and intolerance. I have a feeling, though, that we will instead be getting some nuanced explanation about why they are right and we are wrong. Ya know, kind of like an elitist would do.

Oh Jimmy!

Oh, Jimmy!

Former President Jimmy Carter met with top leader of the Hamas. He met with Khaled Meshaal, leader of the terrorist organization to discuss Hamas’ involvement with the peace that Carter is trying to facilitate in the Middle East . Carter was advised against the visit by both Isreali government and the Bush Administration. Carter did stress that he was not there to serve as a mediator but more of a “communicator” in the process.

Let us rewind to re-visit Carter’s communication skills shall we? Does anyone remember the Iranian hostage crisis where Carter’s communication skills stranded American hostages for 444 days? Who was that great communicator who effectively negotiated the hostages release in 48 hrs? Oh yes, President Reagan.

Even after all these years, Carter still hasn’t learned his lesson: you don’t negotiate with terrorists. It didn’t work in the 80’s when he was put to shame by Reagan and I'm fairly certain the Middle East is far from peaceful after President Carter's visit. I wish he would just stick to peanut farming already rather than trying to negotiate peace with terrorists.

Obama and Hillary....hey girl heyyy

The more I think about it the more I am becoming optimistic about our chances this fall in regards to the presidential election. I watched most of the democrats debate on Wednesday and am in just awe that they were talking about lapel pins and playing the old “who said what” game. This of course elevates John McCain and diminishes Hillary and Obama.

While McCain is going across the country Hillary and Obama continue to get even more entrenched in the mud over more mundane things every single day. McCain continues to be above the fray and of course this is a good thing but more so it just goes to show you the simple differences between republicans and democrats.

Republicans prefer order, we prefer to know how things will work out, we tie both our shoes. Democrats seem to get off on the unknown, they enjoy getting into the mud over the smallest of issues and they usually don’t know how to coordinate an outfit to save their life.

What all of this means of course is that John McCain can take his message to the voters and not be distracted by all the bullshit that is coming from Hillary and Obama. It also seems that the longer this goes on Obama will continue to have his ethics and judgment questioned. My answer to that is GOOD!

While I don’t think Obama is an elitist (I don’t know how you can when you grow in the slums of Chicago) I do think he’s out of touch with regular Americans. Remember he scored a 32 while bowling????!!!

Conservatives Win Worldwide As America Becomes More Popular

So much for the aching condition of our relationship with international allies, says I. Not only has the opinion of America world wide stopped its downward spiral, but pro-American politicians have been enjoying election victories around the world, most of whom are conservatives.

Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, is on great terms with the United States and President Bush, and France recently elected an extremely pro-American president in Nicolas "Sarkozy the American". And the election of Silvio Berlusconi in Italy just days ago has driven the liberal elites in America and Europe absolutely mad. And we musn't forget the election of conservative Felipe Calderon in Mexico, either.

And, although not exactly conservative, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown recently heaped praise on President Bush, saying the world owes W "a huge debt of gratitude" for his leadership in the worldwide fight on terrorism.

Yes, my friends, the world is full of pro-American leaders in the very countries that were once the left's leading ammunition in their charge that nobody liked us. But the world's most vocal America haters were overthrown, first with Gerhard Schroeder in Germany, who won his second election by simply bashing America more than the other guy before finally losing to Merkel, and then in France, when the frogs rejected the failing socialist policies of rabid anti-American Jacques Chirac. Even Canada joined in the fun, electing Conservative Party Leader Stephen Harper as Prime Minister. And even though he beat out the staunchly pro-American John Howard, the new Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, was recently caught on video giving President Bush a friendly salute at a summit of worldwide leaders.

So, go ahead, my fellow Americans, and give yourself a hug! Everyone else is.

Senator John Cornyn Wants More Taxpayer Accessibility

Great work, Senator:

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, a leading open government advocate and Budget Committee member, introduced legislation Monday in advance of Tax Day to boost taxpayers’ access to federal spending records and earmark information.

The Federal Spending and Taxpayer Accessibility Act of 2008 will shed more light on government spending by creating an online earmark tracking system, providing taxpayer record statements and enhancing agency expenditure transparency.

“One of my top priorities in the Senate has been to increase public access to government information,” Sen. Cornyn said. “This latest effort will provide taxpayers unprecedented information about how their money is spent, and how their taxes are paid. Increasing transparency in government spending is essential for accountability and fiscal responsibility.”

This is good news. Government is held more accountable with an informed set of voters.

TX State Rep. Borris Miles Arrested.

And what a great mugshot indeed.

Hat tip to: KVUE Political Junkie:

Miles turned himself to at the Harris County Jail just after 7 p.m. His criminal charges stem from two incidents around Christmas last year. Police say Miles pulled a gun on the wife of TSU regent Willard Jackson at the Toyota Center during a Rockets game.

Later that night, at an invitation-only Christmas party at the St. Regis Hotel, an apparently intoxicated Miles pulled a gun again, called himself a "thug" and "gangster" and forcibly kissed another man's wife.

Barack Obama Explains The Capital Gains Tax...

...and not very well. This man, who says he wants to make the tax system fair, is proposing that we double the capital gains tax, which would effectively raise taxes on anyone investing in the stock market. Now, most of you Democrats reading this have been taught by your party leaders that only the rich invest, and so Gibson's point that 100 million Americans own stock might come as some surprise to you.

Here's the video, followed by some commentary.

Executives paying lower taxes than their secretaries? Ed Morrisey at Hot Air explains why Barack is stupid:
He talks about billionaires paying a different rate than secretaries on income, but that’s purposeful. The idea behind a lower capital gains tax is to encourage risk-taking. The secretary in this parable garners an income at much lower risk because investors have taken a risk in creating her job. When the risk succeeds, it generates much more taxable income across the board. When it doesn’t, the investors lose a lot of money.

If the risk carries a heavier tax burden, less money will go towards investment. People will instead put their money into safer, less risk-intense areas, such as savings or low-yield bonds and commodities such as gold. That will create fewer opportunities for employment, which translates across the board into less revenue for the government as well as a stalled economy. The surest way to start an economic disaster is to increase penalties for investment.
Thanks, Ed.

When Obama isn't talking in platitudes about "change" or "hope" or "believing", he sounds pretty dumb. It makes me anxious for November. Not that any of this will stop the cult from following him into the depths of Hell itself. No sir, not them. Just shut up, fall in line, and for God's sake don't tell the emperor he has no clothes on. Right, guys?

Quick McCain Update

Hello everybody!

I will make this quick since I am currently on vacation in New York City. Next week, I will write about one of my experiences here that transcends political affiliation, and was truly a humbling moment for me personally.

For now, I just wanted to point out the website electoral-vote.com currently has McCain dominating both Hillary and Obama if the election was held tomorrow. This is a good sign, and shows that McCain was the right nominee for the Republicans to be able to beat Obama or Hillary. Looking at the states that are barely voting Democrat, the most strategic VP nominee is still likely Tim Pawlenty. There is too much going on in his favor right now for him not to be seriously considered.

Others to look out for would be Charlie Crist, Mike Huckabee, Sarah Palin, Kay Bailey Hutchison, Mitt Romney, Haley Barbour, and Jim DeMint. Others mentioned that I do not see as real possibilities are Bobby Jindal, Mark Sanford, Rob Portman, Phill Gramm, Joe Lieberman, and Rudy Giuliani. Please feel free to debate these picks, and I will elaborate more on these later in the year.

Texas Tech President: Young Conservatives Have Rights

Texas Tech president, Jon Whitmore has cleared up any confusion: the university's Young Conservatives of Texas chapter has free speech rights. This, after the YCT chapter held an illegal immigrant hunt on campus to raise awareness of the issue. Thanks for the clarification, Jon.

According to Whitmore, the YCT chapter could not be reprimanded even though "the game goes against the university's mission to build a diverse and welcoming atmosphere." But, Mr. Whitmore points out, "they had the right to play it."

Apparently, a university administration that reserves the ability to censor expression it does not like is Mr. Whitmore's idea of "building diversity". If it weren't for those pesky rights of which Mr. Whitmore appears to be so resentful, perhaps he could just end conservative expression altogether and achieve REAL diversity!

Well, cry me a river, Mr. Whitmore (pun intended). :)

Introducing Huck PAC

The countdown to tax day once featured on the front page of MikeHuckabee.com is now one day expired and his new mission has been revealed; elect Republicans. Governor Huckabee has announced that he intends to use the resources he developed during his presidential run to help elect John McCain as well as win a majority in the house, the senate, and carry the governorships. It's an optimistic goal from an optimistic man. Check out the PAC's introduction video:
